MANAGER'S NOTES
BRIAN SORENSEN
Good afternoon, Evertonians.
Welcome back to Walton Hall Park for our match against Tottenham Hotspur.
With today being the final fixture of the season, I would like to thank our fans for their unwavering support throughout the campaign. You have backed us through the highs and lows, and we always appreciate your support.
It was brilliant to see so many of you at Anfield last week, and what a day it was. Our performance levels were not as high as they have been overall, but we still managed to keep a clean sheet and score two excellent goals.
Keeping your opponents out despite not playing your best football is massive, with our backline and goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan giving their all to ensure we secured the bragging rights again.
I was delighted for Katja Snoeijs and Karen Holmgaard, who both work so hard. Katja works her socks off every week and Karen has been so strong to recover from a long-term injury and hit the ground running upon making her return to action.
It is a brilliant time to lead the Club, especially with the new owners showing their support for our side. I am delighted that Clare Wheeler and Kenzie Weir have committed their future to the club, too.
We have been very strong since the turn of the year and have enjoyed a stellar second half of the season. We completed the double over our neighbours and the future is very bright for this club.
Today provides us with an opportunity to conclude the season strongly, with a potential sixth-placed finish available. Tottenham Hotspur pose a difficult challenge, though.
We found that out in the reverse fixture as we fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat in the capital. However, we have massively improved since then and evidenced that as we progressed to the next round of the FA Cup by beating Robert Vilahmanās side 2-0.
I believe we can get a similar result today, but will have to be at our very best. As ever, we will need your support; so be loud and proud as we look to end the season in style.
Enjoy the game,
Brian.
CAPTAIN'S NOTES
MEGAN FINNIGAN
Good afternoon and welcome back to Walton Hall Park for todayās match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Firstly, I would like to thank you for your tremendous support throughout this season. Today is our final game of the campaign and it has been amazing to see you backing us up and down the country.
I would like to congratulate Clare Wheeler and Kenzie Weir on signing new contracts with the Club. They both deserve it and have worked so hard. Clare has been brilliant this season and has emerged as a leader, with Kenzieās strength to recover from a long-term injury admirable.
My recovery is going well, I am just trying to get the basics right and get myself in a good place going in to the summer. It is crazy when I think back to the start of the season and the tough start we had. It was a real struggle at times, to be honest.
The comparison to now is huge and I believe we have enjoyed a strong second half of the season. I hope we can finish the campaign off strongly this afternoon, with sixth-place up for grabs.
There was some really tough games in the first half of the season, but the strength in this team is the togetherness and unity. All those hard times and hard work have paid off and put us in a really good place now.
I was at Anfield to witness our derby day win and was very pleased with the result. It was not our best performance, but we defended very well to get another clean sheet at Anfield. We have an unbelievable record there and I was buzzing to maintain it.
The best teams avoid defeat even when they are not at their best. They do what they have to do and ride the pressure before scraping a win.
Looking ahead to the summer and next season, I am very optimistic. We have improved from last year and the future is bright. The new owners came in, invested in January, and the new signings really strengthened our squad.
We have got a really good core in the squad that have been here for a few years alongside Brian and Stephen. We know how we play and when you combine the two, I believe next season we can really push on.
Todayās opponents Spurs have had a disappointing second half of the season, but possess quality players. They showed that in December, but then we showed in the FA Cup game that when on top form, we can dominate them.
If we control the game the way we have done in the past couple of months, we can get the three points and claim sixth place.
Enjoy the game,
Meg.

KAREN HOLMGAARD'S JOY
AFTER IMPRESSIVE RUN
Karen Holmgaard expressed her delight with her return to fitness after the Dane scored Everton's second in the Blues' 2-0 victory over Liverpool.
The midfielder's goal was her second from her past three, after recovering from a long-term injury that had kept her sidelined for 10 months.
She said: āI am really, really happy and enjoying playing football. I am glad and proud of myself. I am enjoying being back.
āI was buzzing. It is so nice to win a derby like that. We were not playing that well, but a win is a win. We defended really well as a team and scored two goals ā that is the main part. Going home from Anfield with the three points is an amazing feeling. We are all really, really happy.
āI have said many times, Merseyside is blue. It always will be on the Womenās side. It feels even better to win today because it was not our best performance. We showed that we can defend and finish off our chances when needed.ā
Holmgaard made her return to action in February, coming off the bench against Chelsea to make her first appearance of the season.
The Dane hit the ground running, helping her side to an impressive 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the Joie Stadium, before securing the bragging rights at Anfield.
āThat felt incredible. The fans are always there supporting us. Home and away, they are always there. That means so much to us as a team, so why not celebrate my goal with them? They are a big part of Everton and they deserve the derby day win,ā commented Holmgaard.
With the final game of the season upon us, the midfielder has her sights on the upcoming European Championships. Her native nation enjoyed a successful qualifying campaign and have been drawn in a group alongside Germany, Poland and Sweden.
āMy goal is to play at the upcoming European Championships. If I am not selected, I am not selected,ā added Holmgaard.
āIf so, I will have a good summer and concentrate on having a really good pre-season here and then hopefully transfer that and have a good season. I want to show the real Karen after being out for so long. The most important thing is to be ready for next season.ā
SNOEJIS' 'SPECIAL'
GOODISON MEMORIES
Katja Snoeijs reminisced on her āspecialā Goodison memories ahead of the final fixture at the Grand Old Lady.
Snoeijs scored the winner in the most recent womenās fixture to be held at the historic venue, as Brian Sorensenās side defeated Liverpool 1-0.
The forward replicated her derby day delight earlier this month, netting the opener as the Toffees completed the double over their neighbours with a 2-0 win at Anfield.
Reflecting on the 1-0 win against Matt Beardās side in November, she said: āIt was really special, mainly because it was the goal that got us the win at Goodison against Liverpool. It was my first derby goal as well, for it to be at Goodison was extra special.
āIt is always a special feeling when you are walking down the tunnel in to Goodison Park. The atmosphere is always great there, it hypes you up when you walk out and you hear the sirens. The feeling is indescribable, but it makes you so excited for the game ahead.ā
Snoeijs has fully immersed herself in the culture at Everton, attending a host of David Moyesā sideās fixtures whilst being a prominent figure for Everton in the Community.
āSince I signed, I have been there multiple times to watch the men,ā commented Snoeijs.
āThe games were special. It is different to football games in the Netherlands ā over there, there are one or two stands that are really loud and where the atmosphere is. But here, every stand in Goodison is always full and so loud. The fans are so close to the pitch, too. I think it is a special experience.ā
The Netherlands internationalās strike against Liverpool was her seventh goal involvement of the season, with her performances in the number ten role helping fellow forwards Kelly Gago and Toni Payne find form.
āEverton feels like family. It really feels like home. From everyone on the ground: the players, the staff; I think it is a place where I can fully be myself. That is what you need as a player: to really feel like āI want to come to the training ground and I want to be surrounded by the people hereā. That is the case,ā added Snoeijs.
āIt is really important. It is sometimes hard in a team environment because we are all individuals who want to perform and get the best out of our own career. In the end, we are a team. We have showed this season that it is not the starting XI that decides the game, we need every single person, even the ones that are not playing as much. That is what makes the team better and is a really positive thing that we have in our team. No matter what is going on and the noise around us, we always stick together. That is really enjoyable to be a part of."
